We started our first golf school
in 2006 in Appelscha, The Netherlands. Jos has been a WGTF
professional since the end of 2004, and we were glad to find a
golf course to work on so soon. Golf wasn’t very popular in the
north, but we managed to develop a thriving business. Our dream,
however, was to live and work in the south of Europe.
During the harsh Dutch winter of
2009-10, with approximately three months of snow, no golf, no
lessons and no income, we decided to rent an apartment in the
Portuguese Algarve. In February, Andrea took the certification
course, and in April we moved 3,000 kilometers away. In May, we
found a golf course to work on and we are developing our new
golf school. The Algarve, with nearly 40 golf courses, provides
11 months of good-to-perfect golf weather a year and it never
snows! But, most importantly, instead of dreaming our lives, we
