Golf Pro Professional
Teacher, Player, Manager
When someone hears the term "golf pro," the first thing that comes to mind is
someone who plays the game on television and travels to world-famous destinations.
While that is certainly one aspect of being a golf pro, far more common is the
person who serves at a golf course or driving range. A golf pro
can wear many hats: manager, teacher, marketer, accountant, businessperson, and
salesperson are just a few of the many tasks that come to mind. Some who serve
as a golf pro actually try to do all of the above functions, and then some! However,
most realize that trying to do to much is counterproductive. Instead, being a
golf pro today involves much more specialization than in years past.
A golf pro indeed might be a professional player, manager, teacher, etc., but
usually they are involved in only one or two of these aspects. As a result, there
are more jobs and positions for everyone seeking a job as a golf pro.
